Featured Product: Wheel Cleaner 'Felgen-Reiniger' Most of you realize the importance of keeping your wheels clean. If keeping your vehicle clean is like wearing a clean set of clothes, then clean wheels is like wearing a clean pair of shoes. However, what most don’t realize is how to properly clean their wheels and which products are best suited and why.Types of WheelsHaving a set of clean stylish wheels has been a top priority lately. Wheels on the market today are made from a variety of metals including forged and billet aluminum, cast metal, and finished chrome. Knowing what your wheels are made of is the first step to properly maintaining them.Taking Care of WheelsLike your vehicle’s paintwork finish, allowing a heavy accumulation of grime and soot to remain on your wheels will cause damage. The number one enemy to the finish of any wheel type is brake dust and road grime. When brake dust retains moisture it becomes highly acidic and will quickly damage the finish of your wheels. Manufacturers discourage the use of aggressive, off-the-shelf wheel cleaners which are very acidic. einszett formulated a special wheel cleaner, Wheel Cleaner 'Felgen Reiniger', that is unlike off-the-shelf brands. It is a mild cleaner designed to safely and gently remove brake dust and road grime without harming the finish. Correct ApplicationAs with application of all cleaning products, it’s important to clean wheels under the correct condition regardless of what you use to clean the wheels. Before cleaning your wheels, be sure to follow product directions carefully. Be sure wheels are cool to the touch before spraying. Allow product to work for no more than three minutes (or as suggested on the directions) and then rinse thoroughly with water. If grime buildup is heavy, gentle agitation with a soft clean cotton cloth or wash mitt might be necessary. Using a brush is highly discouraged despite the softness claimed. Just like we wouldn’t suggest you use a brush to clean the paintwork, we suggest you avoid using them on your wheels. After washing, dry with a soft clean cotton cloth or chamois. You may even want to drive around your neighborhood so excess water will fling out of the crevices. Polishing Non-coated, Non-anodized, and Chrome WheelsIf your wheels are non-anodized, non-coated aluminum or chrome, it's necessary to maintain their appearance and luster with a metal polish. Chrome & Metal Polish has the added benefit of sealing the surface to protect it from the initial effects of brake dust contamination and oxidation. However, it is not a permanent layer of protection so regular care is still required.
