Yellow Cutting Foams 6.5"- Use this pad to apply compounds or polishes to remove severe oxidation, swirls, and scratches. It is the most aggressive and should only be used on oxidized and older finishes. Always follow this pad with an orange or white pad and a fine polish to refine the paint until it is smooth.
Purple Foamed Wool
Rated 6 - Heavy cutting
Ideal Use: deep scratches, severe oxidization, wet sanding marks, and gel coat
Product Selection: a heavy compound
Finished Look: will be hazed over, requires another step
Yellow
Rated 5 - Cutting
Ideal Use: scratches, some oxidization, sever spider webbing, and gel coat
Orange
Rated 3 - Mild Cutting
Ideal Use: small scratches, scuffing, mild oxidization, spider webbing, and gel coat
White
Rated 2 - Polishing
Ideal Use: hazing, dull paint, mild spider webs
Product Selection: polish, pre-wax cleansers, all in one products
Finished Look: will leave paint shiny and smooth
Green
Rated 1.5 - All in One Pad
Ideal Use: dull paint, mild spider webs
Black
Rated 1
Ideal Use: to apply protection to the prepared paint surface, layering sealants
Product Selection: sealants, waxes
Finished Look: will leave paint shiny and smooth and protected
Blue
Rated 1 - slightly softer then the black
